Book discussion of The Food Explorer
by Daniel Stone, led by William Richter. This discussion will kick off a series of events surrounding the author's visit to K-State on November 6th. This event is co-sponsored by K-State and the Riley County Historical Society.
The Food Explorer features native sons of Manhattan, David Fairchild, Charles Marlatt, and Walter Swingle. The book follows globe-trotting botanist David Farirchild as he searches for food that would enrich the American farmer and enchant the American eater. Ultimately, Fairchild's journey transforms America into the most diverse food system ever created.
